Presales CAD Engineer

About The Position

The Presales CAD Engineer will be responsible for reading and understanding RFP and tender documents, as well as customer requirements provided by the Sales Account Manager (SA) and sales team. This role involves concept design of data center architecture and equipment, understanding of relevant architectural and structural codes and standards, and CAD modeling. The engineer will also focus on passive fire protection design, coordination with other technical disciplines (HVAC, electrical, controls, fire protection), and dimensioning/specification of structural and architectural parts of modular buildings. Key activities include technical project coordination with customers and suppliers, communicating with customers to propose the best solutions, making technical proposals for Vertiv modular solutions data centers, providing design documents, and problem-solving to interpret customer requirements into proposed solutions. The role supports the SA and sales team with solution-based thinking that incorporates a multitude of Structural and Mechanical components for end-customer deployment.

Requirements

Bachelor’s or equivalent degree in Structural Engineering
Minimum 3 years of design experience
Proficient in structural and mechanical system design including end user interface applications
Strong CAD capabilities including the ability to represent site, structural and system layouts, as well as custom designs and associated pre-fabricated data center infrastructure systems
Solution-based thinking that will incorporate a multitude of Mechanical and Electrical components to an end-customer deployment
Solid communication skills, both written and oral, to work across multiple Engineering and Manufacturing teams to bring architectures and concepts to deployment
PC skills: active user of Windows, MS Office incl. Excel (A), Word (A), AutoCAD
CAD 2D design experience is a must.

Nice To Haves

Revit or any 3D modelling software is a preference.
Experience in civil/construction/architecture (traditional or modular) is preferred.
