About The Position

Foodland, Hawaiʻi’s largest locally owned grocery retailer, is hiring Prep Cooks and Line Cooks to join our store and restaurant culinary teams across multiple locations. We are seeking high energy, creative culinary professionals who are passionate about food and delivering exceptional experiences to all guests. Our cooks play a key role in preparing and cooking fresh, high-quality foods that reflect Hawaiʻi’s diverse food culture while maintaining consistent standards, food safety, and operational excellence. Cooks must have knowledge of cooking techniques & procedures, kitchen equipment, and kitchen operational systems. Line Cooks must have the ability to work and communicate well with others, work both independently and in a team, follow directions, as well as maintain a positive attitude toward the work and company. Cooks also maintain a neat, well-groomed personal appearance, observe company dress code, and support the company culture, values, goals and mission. We have opportunities for Part-Time & Full-Time for the following cook positions: Prep Cooks – starting at $16.00, Line Cooks – starting at $17.00.

Requirements

  • Must be at least 18 years of age
  • High school education preferred or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Knife skills and basic cooking techniques required
  • Knowledge of kitchen equipment, food preparation methods, and safe food handling practices
  • Ability to work well both independently and as part of a team
  • Ability to follow recipes, instructions, and standardized procedures
  • TB Clearance required (or ability to obtain prior to employment)
  • Must comply with all company policies and requirements

Nice To Haves

  • Previous culinary experience in a high-volume food establishment, restaurant, or prepared foods operation
  • Experience working as a Prep Cook, Line Cook, or similar role
  • Familiarity with fast-paced kitchen environments and production cooking

Responsibilities

  • preparing ingredients and/or cooking menu items from prepped ingredients
  • consistent execution of standardized recipes
  • maintaining product quality standards
  • observe and enforce company standard operating procedures
  • ensuring all safety and sanitation guidelines are followed
  • supporting prep duties as necessary
