About The Position

Bruno Hospitality in Leeds, Alabama, is hiring a full-time Prep Cook. The Food Preparer prepares food products and contributes to a fast-paced hospitality operation. The role follows recipes and product directions, maintains product quality and freshness, and follows proper food-handling and sanitation procedures. It also involves receiving and inventorying food and beverage products and supplies, and cleaning and sanitizing work areas and equipment. Other duties may be assigned by the Department Manager.

The job regularly involves standing, walking, reaching, and handling food and kitchen equipment. Employees may need to lift up to 50 pounds regularly and up to 100 pounds occasionally. The work environment includes regular exposure to extreme heat and moving mechanical parts, and occasional exposure to extreme cold, wet or humid conditions, chemicals, and outdoor weather.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED, one to three months of related experience and/or training, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Food Safety and Sanitation Training.
• Ability to read and speak English may be required to perform job duties, including communicating with English-speaking customers or coworkers and using equipment manuals.

Responsibilities

• Follow recipes and product directions for proper food preparation.
• Maintain product quality and monitor freshness daily.
• Transfer supplies and equipment between storage and work areas by hand or cart.
• Prepare equipment for cooking.
• Use kitchen utensils and equipment to weigh, measure, mix, wash, peel, cut, grind, stir, strain, slice, assemble, and knead food products.
• Follow food-handling procedures, including wrapping, labeling, dating, stocking, storing, rotating, and checking product temperatures.
• Receive and inventory food and beverage products and supplies.
• Clean and sanitize work stations and equipment.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the Department Manager.
