About The Position

Chambliss Center for Children is seeking a reliable, full-time Prep Cook to help prepare nutritious meals for children from infancy through age 12. The role offers a consistent daytime schedule in a positive environment supporting young children. The position is located at 315 Gillespie Road, Chattanooga, TN 37411, and pays $12–$14 per hour depending on experience. The schedule is Monday through Friday, 6:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., with no evenings or weekends.

Requirements

Must be at least 18 years old.
Ability to read and write in English.
Ability to work cooperatively as part of a team.
Must pass a fingerprint background check required for working in a childcare environment.
Prolonged periods of standing and walking while preparing food and cleaning.
Ability to lift and carry up to 40 pounds, such as food deliveries and supplies.
Frequent bending, reaching, and use of hands for cutting, mixing, and cleaning.
Work around hot surfaces, sharp utensils, and cleaning chemicals.

Nice To Haves

Experience with food preparation or cooking in a commercial setting is strongly preferred.

Responsibilities

Prepare and cook food as directed, following set recipes and portion guidelines.
Operate standard kitchen equipment safely and efficiently.
Maintain a clean and organized kitchen and storage area.
Follow safety and sanitation guidelines.
Assist the Kitchen Supervisor with ordering food and supplies.
Complete other kitchen-related tasks as assigned by the Kitchen Supervisor.
