About The Position

Prep Cooks are responsible for preparing food and ingredients to be cooked in kettles of mixed in mixers. This role involves preparing and maintaining an efficient setup of the prep room, understanding kitchen needs, initiating and ensuring all batches are accurate and signed off, weighing prepped ingredients, opening boxed ingredients and decanting them into pans, and ensuring equipment is returned to the dish room efficiently. The position also requires understanding and operating stick blenders safely, inspecting equipment after cleaning and before use to ensure cleanliness, and adhering to strict safety, quality, and production standards, including food sanitation (GMP) guidelines.

Requirements

  • Be a team player, including the ability to communicate well with others
  • Basic reading comprehension
  • Basic math, weight, and measurement skills (pounds, ounces, etc.)
  • Regularly required to use hands to feel, grab, or operate objects, tools, and controls while reaching with hands and arms
  • Frequently required to stand, communicate, and listen
  • Occasionally required to walk, stoop, kneel or crouch
  • Occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds
  • Visual perception to perform job including peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus
  • Able to perform repetitive movements
  • Able to work in variable temperatures (cold/hot)

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and maintain efficient setup of the prep room
  • Understand kitchen needs for the day

  • Ensure that equipment is returned to the dish room in an efficient manner

  • Adhere to strict safety, quality, and production standards including food sanitation (GMP) guidelines
