About The Position

Famous Dave’s is seeking a team-oriented Prep Cook to prepare food using the restaurant’s recipes and specifications, help maintain food safety and quality standards, and support kitchen operations during busy periods. The role includes preparing menu items, monitoring ticket times, maintaining kitchen cleanliness, and completing assigned side duties and cleaning projects. Previous prep cook or cooking experience is preferred; candidates must be at least 18 years old.

Requirements

• Must be at least 18 years of age.
• Able to use knives, slicing equipment, and other food-preparation equipment.
• Reading, writing, and verbal communication skills required.
• Must communicate effectively with other kitchen staff.
• Able to place plates, utensils, pans, and cases on high and low shelves.
• Must be mobile throughout the shift and able to stand and move at a steady pace for up to eight hours.
• Able to lift, carry, push, or pull up to 50 pounds.
• Able to consistently handle product preparation.

• Previous prep cook or cooking experience.

Responsibilities

• Prepare menu items according to Famous Dave’s recipes, plate presentations, and specifications.
• Operate large-volume cooking equipment, including grills, deep-fat fryers, smokers, ovens, stoves, and dishwashers.
• Maintain product presentation, product quality, and cook-time standards.
• Follow sanitary and safe food-handling practices at all times.
• Clean as you go and maintain kitchen cleanliness.
• Complete assigned daily and weekly cleaning projects.
• Support fellow team members during busy periods, including preparing food and monitoring ticket times.
