PREP COOK (FULL TIME)
About The Position
Chartwells Higher Ed is hiring a full-time Prep Cook at Central Community College-Hastings in Hastings, Nebraska. The role prepares food and serves customers in accordance with applicable federal, state, and local standards, guidelines, and regulations. No prior experience is required; training is available. The schedule is Monday through Thursday, 10:00 a.m. to 7:30 p.m., and Friday, 10:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Pay is $16.00 to $16.50 per hour, and a free shift meal is offered. The position involves preparing food according to production schedules, recipes, and standards; maintaining quality, food safety, sanitation, and portion control; and serving customers efficiently and courteously. Employment at an educational facility may involve periods when work is not required during winter or summer breaks, which may be unpaid temporary layoffs. Depending on business needs, associates may be asked to work year-round, potentially at another location during breaks.
Requirements
- No prior experience is required; willingness to train.
Responsibilities
- Obtain the daily production schedule and preparation requirements from the Chef.
- Prepare items according to production sheets, established quantities, and recipes.
- Complete daily production worksheets, waste logs, and other required documentation, reports, and logs.
- Taste completed meals to ensure quality.
- Operate and clean equipment according to department procedures after each use.
- Store, label, and date food items according to policy and follow HACCP guidelines.
- Comply with applicable health and sanitation regulations and department sanitation procedures.
- Take customer orders and prepare items requiring short preparation time.
- Serve customers efficiently and in a friendly manner at multiple stations, including from steam tables and grills.
- Use approved recipes and production standards to maintain food quality, serving temperatures, and portion control.
- Resolve customer concerns.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
