About The Position

Lab37 Robotics is a technology company developing and deploying robots for direct-to-customer food production. Its mission is to improve efficiency, quality, and customer satisfaction in the food industry through innovative robotic solutions. The Prep Cook prepares and stages high-quality ingredients for automated bowl-building robots. The role combines kitchen preparation with technology: cooks follow software-guided standard operating procedures, prepare ingredients to precise specifications, portion ingredients and sauces accurately, and operate and load automated bowl-building units. The position also maintains inventory and food-waste records using a digital platform and uses commercial kitchen equipment while following sanitation and food-safety standards. The role is based onsite at the company’s Lawndale office, with office-based teams working onsite five days a week. The base starting rate is $23.00 per hour; actual compensation may vary based on experience, skills, and qualifications.

Requirements

Strong attention to detail and ability to follow precise instructions.
At least 1 year of kitchen experience.
Interest in working in an automated kitchen environment; robotics experience is not required, and training is provided.

Responsibilities

Prepare proteins and vegetables using knife skills, ensuring cuts meet specifications for robot compatibility.
Weigh ingredients and sauces accurately using digital scales and follow company recipes.
Operate and load automated bowl-building units, monitor robot performance, and follow software-guided reloading and staging protocols.
Maintain inventory logs and track food waste through the company’s digital platform.
Use commercial induction stoves, combi ovens, and blast chillers.
Maintain sanitation and food-safety standards.
