About The Position
The PreOp Registered Nurse works in Greenview Surgery Center’s ambulatory surgery center and plans, executes, and evaluates preoperative nursing care. The nurse prepares the patient care area, ensures required equipment and supplies are available, assesses patients and reviews their histories, diagnostic tests, and charts, administers prescribed preoperative medications and intravenous therapy, and monitors patients until they are transferred to the operating room. The role includes providing quality care in accordance with HCA Healthcare and center values.
Requirements
- Associate Degree in Nursing, RN Diploma, or a higher degree in nursing.
- Active RN license as required by the state of employment.
- BCLS certification upon employment; online certification is not accepted.
- ACLS certification within 30 days of hire.
- PALS certification within 30 days of hire if required by the facility.
Nice To Haves
- 1+ years of nursing experience in PreOp/PACU preferred.
Responsibilities
- Prepare the patient care area before each case.
- Ensure necessary equipment and supplies are available for each procedure.
- Conduct complete physical and psychological assessments and evaluate patients’ histories and diagnostic tests.
- Review patient charts for completeness before surgery.
- Administer prescribed preoperative medications and intravenous therapy.
- Monitor patients until they are transferred to the operating room.
