About The Position

Pape’ Kenworth is seeking a Premier Truck Technician / Mechanic to join their team. This role is for a master-level technician who takes pride in their work, enjoys tackling complex diagnostics, and can lead others. The Premier Truck Technician / Mechanic will be a leader in the shop, responsible for complex diagnostics, advanced repairs, and overall shop excellence for medium and heavy-duty Class 7 & 8 trucks. This position requires a deep understanding of truck systems, strong problem-solving skills, and the ability to lead by example while maintaining high standards of safety and quality. The role involves overseeing and performing diagnostics and repairs, mentoring other technicians, troubleshooting various truck systems (engines, transmissions, axles, steering, brakes, clutches, electrical, air systems), and executing preventive maintenance programs. The goal is to minimize customer downtime and ensure repairs are done correctly, contributing to operational excellence and a culture of continuous improvement. Technicians certified by Paccar have the option of working four ten-hour shifts.

Requirements

  • 7 or more years of experience working on all makes and models of medium and heavy-duty class 7/8 trucks.
  • Experience with engine repair, electronic trouble-shooting, HVAC systems, and chassis repair.
  • Basic computer knowledge.
  • Self-motivation and assertiveness.
  • Ability to work under little or no supervision.
  • Excellent communication and customer relations skills.
  • Must provide own tools.

Nice To Haves

  • Kenworth Essentials certifications preferred.
  • Cummins and MX software experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee and perform precision diagnostics and repairs on medium and heavy-duty Class 7 & 8 trucks.
  • Troubleshoot and repair engines, transmissions, axles, steering, brakes, clutches, electrical systems, and air systems.
  • Execute preventive maintenance programs to ensure long-term reliability for customers.
  • Provide guidance and mentorship to other technicians, sharing expertise to enhance team performance and technical capability.
  • Lead by example in upholding the highest standards of safety, quality, and professionalism.
  • Minimize customer downtime and ensure every repair is completed correctly.
  • Maintain operational excellence within the shop, promoting teamwork and fostering a culture of continuous improvement.
