About The Position

At Stony Brook Medicine, a Prehospital Coordinator is a valuable member of our team who will provide operational supervision and administrative support to the Emergency Medical Services department. The selected candidate will also act as a primary contact/liaison to EMS agencies in Suffolk County with a goal of strengthening and developing relationships. The position is necessary to oversee multiple mission-critical on-site and off-site locations, to support local EMS agencies and hospitals within the Stony Brook Medicine health system.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in EMS, Emergency Management, Business, or related field. Verification of degree (e.g., diploma or official transcript) is required for this role. Upload of documentation must be included with your application for consideration.
  • At least 7 years of EMS Leadership experience.
  • NYS certified paramedic.
  • Active/current NYS driver's license.
  • BLS, ACLS, and PALS certification.
  • At least 5 years of critical care transport experience.
  • At least 5 years of 911 response experience.
  • Experience with transport ventilators and portable IV pumps.
  • Successfully complete pre-employment physical examination and obtain medical clearance from Stony Brook Medicine's Employee Health Services
  • Complete electronic reference check with a minimum of three (3) professional references.
  • Successfully complete a 4 panel drug screen
  • Meet Regulatory Requirements for pre employment screenings.
  • Provide a copy of any required New York State license(s)/certificate(s).

Nice To Haves

  • NYS Certified Instructor Coordinator.
  • 3 or more years of experience as a flight paramedic.
  • EMS research experience, QA/CQI/FMEA experience.
  • Demonstrated experience working with multiple EMS agencies to develop education and quality plans.

Responsibilities

  • Provides operational and administrative support to the Emergency Medical Services department as directed by the EMS Director and AVP of Emergency Services
  • Acts as the primary prehospital point of contact/liaison for EMS agencies and SBM hospitals
  • Participates in strategic planning and resource optimization for SBM assets in Suffolk County
  • Works to develop and strengthen prehospital relationships in accordance with SBM market expansion and strategic goals
  • Oversight of specialty programs (Mobile Stroke, Aviation, Blood Products or other) as directed
  • Provides regular EMS education offerings in Suffolk County as outlined by the EMS Director
  • Daily supervision of EMTs and Paramedics
  • Supervision of the transfer center operations as assigned
  • Ensures and coordinates staffing for duty locations as required
  • Attends EMS association/organization meetings representing SBM
  • Coordination of special events, assignments and projects
  • Participates in employee training as required
  • Participates in BLS, ACLS, PALS and DAC classes as assigned
  • Ensures EMS equipment and vehicles are operational
  • Participates in EMS research activities
  • Provides clinical coverage as required or directed
