About The Position

Auto-Owners Insurance, a top-rated insurance carrier, is seeking a predictive modeler to join our analytics teams. The position requires the person to use statistical or machine learning techniques to build models that address business needs and comply with regulatory requirements, work with large, complex data sets and develop a working knowledge of Auto-Owners data structures and metrics, conduct ad-hoc analysis and present results clearly at multiple-levels of stakeholders through visual displays of quantitative information, create clear and easy to understand documentation for models, and monitor model performance and implement iterative improvements.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent experience) in a quantitative discipline (e.g. Mathematics, Statistics, Computer Science, Physics, Operations Research, Economics, Electrical Engineering, etc.)
  • Outstanding problem solving and critical thinking skills
  • An understanding of statistical modeling or data science concepts, especially clustering, regression, and classification techniques.
  • Aptitude and willingness to learn new things
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work as part of a team
  • Ability to work in the U.S. without current or future sponsorship

Nice To Haves

  • Proficiency with common coding languages (Python, R, SQL, etc.)
  • Advanced degree in a quantitative discipline
  • Professional experience building models with large data sets

Responsibilities
