We offer career opportunities where you can contribute and grow. Our commercial & operations modeling department is currently seeking an experienced predictive modeler. This role is responsible for developing and maintaining multivariate underwriting models that analyzing multiple risk factors simultaneously, enabling more accurate assessment, pricing, and selection of insurance risks while improving profitability and portfolio performance. This position is based at our Headquarters in Fairfield, Ohio. The pay range for this position is $120,000 - $200,000 annually. The pay determination is based on the applicant’s education, experience, location, knowledge, skills, and abilities. Eligible associates may also receive an annual cash bonus and stock incentives based on company and individual performance.

Requirements

  • strong analytical and technical skills, including coding, and use of tools such as SAS, Excel, Python, R or other statistical software tools
  • experience working with insurance data or other large datasets
  • knowledge of predictive modeling methodologies and model development best practices
  • practice in applying statistical, machine learning, predictive modeling, or analytical techniques to solve business problems
  • effective written, verbal, and presentation skills, with the ability to communicate actuarial analyses through reports, charts, and stakeholder discussions
  • a bachelor’s degree in mathematics, statistics, economics, physics, engineering, actuarial science, or some other related field (required)

Nice To Haves

  • three or more years of property and casualty actuarial or modeling experience (preferred)
  • a master’s or PhD in a quantitative field of study (preferred)
  • ACAS or FCAS designation, or commitment to attaining the FCAS designation

Responsibilities

  • develop and maintain multivariate underwriting models for business insurance
  • develop and implement multivariate statistical and machine-learning models for claims management
  • develop and maintain tools for assessment and monitoring of predictive models
  • develop analytic studies of profitability and growth
  • conduct research leading to potentially useful models for insurance pricing, underwriting, and claims
  • interact with several departments within the company, including Commercial Lines, Personal Lines, Claims, and IT
