About The Position

Auto-Owners Insurance, a top-rated insurance carrier, is seeking a motivated individual to join our Actuarial Division as a Predictive Modeler Intern. The position requires the person to create data files to be used in modeling software, build and evaluate predictive models using modeling software, present predictive model proposals for peer review and business approval, create specifications for and coordinate implementation of predictive models, and occasionally perform ad-hoc reporting to answer specific inquiries from upper management.

Requirements

• Student must be working toward a bachelor’s in mathematics, statistics, computer science, data mining, machine learning, physics, operations research, or a related quantitative discipline, having at least two years of coursework completed.
• Master’s students are also considered if graduation is August 2026 or later.
• An understanding of statistical and predictive modeling concepts, especially clustering and classification techniques
• High aptitude for programming languages
• A desire to learn new things
• Ability to adapt to constant change and innovation
• Ability to work in the U.S. without current or future sponsorship

Nice To Haves

• Knowledge of SQL, Python, or R is a plus
