Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent (GED) with demonstrated basic mechanical aptitude and genuine interest in equipment maintenance and reliability practices.
  • Ability to learn and effectively use technical diagnostic tools, handheld instruments, and software systems for data collection and equipment monitoring with strong attention to detail.
  • Strong problem-solving skills with ability to follow written and verbal instructions accurately while working both independently and collaboratively as part of a maintenance team.
  • Basic computer proficiency including data entry, navigation of standard software applications, and ability to learn specialized maintenance software platforms.
  • Physical capability and willingness to work in industrial environments including ability to stand, walk for extended periods, lift moderate weights, access equipment in various locations, and work in diverse temperature conditions.

Nice To Haves

  • Prior hands-on experience in maintenance, manufacturing, industrial, or technical environments through internships, apprenticeships, trade programs, or entry-level technical positions.
  • Familiarity with basic tools and diagnostic equipment such as multimeters, infrared thermometers, vibration sensors, handheld analyzers, or other condition monitoring devices.
  • Exposure to safety practices, lockout/tagout procedures, personal protective equipment (PPE) requirements, and safe work practices in industrial or technical settings.
  • Demonstrated ability to learn technical concepts quickly with interest in pursuing professional development and certifications in predictive maintenance, vibration analysis, thermography, or reliability engineering.
  • Strong communication skills with ability to document findings clearly, report observations effectively, and maintain a professional attitude when interfacing with equipment operators, technicians, and facility management.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct routine condition monitoring activities including vibration checks, thermal imaging scans, and visual inspections of mechanical and electrical equipment to detect early signs of wear, misalignment, or performance degradation.
  • Collect and accurately record equipment performance data using handheld diagnostic tools, sensors, and software systems while ensuring data quality and consistency for analysis and trending purposes.
  • Support troubleshooting efforts by identifying early warning signs of mechanical or electrical issues such as abnormal vibrations, temperature variations, or performance anomalies, then communicating findings to senior technicians and supervisors.
  • Follow established maintenance procedures, safety guidelines, and standard operating practices while performing inspections and data collection activities across facility equipment including motors, pumps, HVAC systems, and production machinery.
  • Maintain accurate records of inspections, findings, completed tasks, and equipment history using computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS) to support maintenance planning and reliability analysis.
