  • Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or a related field preferred; equivalent experience considered.
  • Primarily office-based with occasional job site visits; ability to review plans and documents for extended periods.
  • Solid working knowledge of commercial construction practices, mechanical systems (wet-side/dry-side HVAC, plumbing/piping), and blueprint/specification interpretation.
  • Proficiency with estimating software and digital takeoff tools (training provided on company platforms); advanced Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook skills.
  • Strong attention to detail, organizational abilities, and analytical/problem-solving mindset.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills with a professional demeanor.
  • Ability to work independently on assigned estimates while contributing effectively as part of a team.
  • Commitment to accuracy, timeliness, and quality in a fast-paced preconstruction environment.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare detailed and conceptual cost estimates for commercial HVAC, plumbing, piping, and mechanical projects (plan-and-spec, design-build, and cooperative purchasing).
  • Thoroughly read, interpret, and analyze contract documents including plans, specifications, addenda, scopes of work, and general conditions.
  • Perform accurate quantity takeoffs from drawings and specifications for materials, labor, equipment, and subcontractor scopes.
  • Organize estimate data, pricing information, and assumptions; solicit and clarify pricing from suppliers, vendors, and subcontractors.
  • Assist in (and increasingly lead) the preparation of complete bid proposals, RFP/RFQ responses, bid packages, and presentations.
  • Identify potential risks, value engineering opportunities, constructability issues, and cost-saving alternatives during the estimating process.
  • Maintain complete, organized project records, estimate files, and documentation for audits and handoffs to operations.
  • Support senior estimators and the preconstruction team with special projects, research, bid strategy input, and related tasks as needed.

Benefits

  • Competitive compensation based on experience and level, with opportunities for performance incentives.
  • Comprehensive benefits including medical, dental, and vision coverage, plus HSA options with employer contributions in select plans, and company-paid basic life and accidental death & dismemberment insurance.
  • Paid time off, holiday pay, and a 401(k) retirement savings plan to support your long-term financial well-being.
  • Professional development through hands-on training, mentorship, and clear career advancement paths across our nationwide operating companies.
  • Inclusive, supportive culture that values diversity, dignity, respect, collaboration, integrity, and personal fulfillment—empowering you to build a rewarding, long-term career.
