Requirements

  • Working with high precision, close tolerance ground parts
  • Strong blueprint reading and GD&T experience
  • Precision part measurement and inspection tools (form error testers, micrometers, electronic gauges, calipers and similar tools/equipment)
  • Effective electronic communication and general software experience
  • One-year certificate from college or technical school or apprenticeship program in Machine Shop technology; OR three or more years related experience and/or training; OR equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Knowledge of speeds and feeds for grinding stainless steels
  • Knowledge of metric conversion; able to work in Metric and English units
  • Able to lift and carry up to 25 pounds
  • Able to stand for prolonged periods of time

Nice To Haves

  • Mazak Mazatrol programming experience is a plus, but not required

Responsibilities

  • Program, set-up, and operate Okamoto, Kellenberger, Mazak, and other CNC grinding machines in a precision machine shop environment
  • Occasionally program, set-up, and operate form testers in order to inspect parts
  • Regularly produce newly designed parts. This involves workholding selection, part process decisions, programming from scratch or modifying a similar program, detailed first part inspection, and process writeups
  • Inspect parts with tight dimensional and form error tolerances, typically in the range of 0.000040-0.000300 inches (1-8 microns). You will use bore gauges, gauge blocks, granite surface plates, digital and dial indicators, form testers, and other precision measurement tools
  • Select, align, and secure workholding fixtures, cutting tools, attachments, and accessories, typically to produce small batches of precision machined parts
