About The Position

The Precertification Coordinator will be responsible for executing comprehensive financial clearances, including verifying insurance benefits and securing prior authorizations for various procedures and cases. They will also manage multi-surgeon scheduling logistics, provide transparent patient financial counseling, handle referral and incoming patient pathways, and drive front-desk and patient intake operations. Additionally, this role will provide cross-clinic operational backup for partner specialty clinics.

Requirements

High School diploma equivalency OR 1 year of applicable cumulative job specific experience required.
Functional experience verifying insurance benefits, auditing payor guidelines, and navigating online portals to secure surgical prior authorizations.
Prior administrative or operational experience within a medical practice or specialty clinic environment.
Familiarity with clinical terminology, CPT/ICD-10 coding, and surgical ordering workflows.
Ability to balance surgical authorizations, front-desk interactions, and phone queues simultaneously.
Excellent verbal communication and diplomatic negotiation skills to discuss fee estimates and payment plans with patients.

Responsibilities

Verify insurance benefits and secure timely prior authorizations for in-office procedures, inpatient, and outpatient surgical cases.
Manage dedicated surgical and clinic schedules for 2 of 4 practice surgeons, with the ability to cross-train for all 4 provider calendars.
Calculate and provide accurate surgical fee estimates to patients, collect upfront payments, and structure payment plans.
Handle high-volume inbound phone queries, schedule specialist appointments, and process incoming patient referrals.
Provide cross-functional front-desk coverage, managing patient check-in/check-out, collecting co-pays, and updating EHR demographic files.
Serve as an agile back-up scheduler for partner specialty clinics across the medical group network.
