About The Position

This position involves interacting with defendants both in the office and in the field for activities such as vehicle inspections, alcohol/drug testing, and monitoring device installations. The Pre-Trial Monitor will accompany defendants to observe specimen collection for drug and alcohol testing, conduct on-site testing, and prepare specimens for external lab analysis, ensuring chain of custody is maintained. The role also includes referring clients to vendors for monitoring devices (satellite monitoring anklets, SCRAM anklets, ignition interlock devices, computer monitoring software), verifying installations, and analyzing data from monitoring reports to identify potential violations. Responsibilities also encompass documenting all relevant events in the case management system, conducting investigations into alleged bond condition violations (including contacting victims and collecting statements), requesting offense reports from arresting agencies, referring defendants to court-ordered treatment programs and verifying compliance, and reporting defendants with active arrest warrants to the Sheriff's Office. The position may also require participation in emergency management activities during local disasters.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma/GED
  • Two years job related experience
  • Strong computer and typing skills (Minimum 40 wpm)
  • Good verbal and written communication skills
  • Good interpersonal skills and ability to deal effectively with the public, other employees, and elected officials
  • Good organizational skills and the ability to complete assigned projects
  • Subject to irregular work hours; including weekends & holidays

Responsibilities

  • Interacts with defendants in the office and outside of the office for vehicle inspections, alcohol/drug testing, and the inspection of satellite monitoring/SCRAM anklets.
  • Accompanies defendants to the drug testing lab to directly observe specimen production, conduct on-site drug and alcohol testing, hair specimen collection, breath testing, and prepare specimens for lab testing while ensuring chain of custody.
  • Refers clients to outside vendors for the installation of various monitor devices.
  • Verifies installation of monitoring devices and reviews/analyzes data from monitoring reports to determine if further investigation is needed for violations.
  • Documents all relevant events in the case management system related to the supervision of defendants, including compliance and violations of bond conditions.
  • Conducts investigations into alleged violations of bond conditions, including contact with victims and collection of sworn statements and supporting information.
  • Requests and obtains offense reports from arresting agencies for defendants with new arrests.
  • Refers defendants to court-ordered treatment programs and verifies compliance through contacts with providers or progress reports.
  • Reports defendants with an active arrest warrant to the FBC Sheriff’s Office Warrants Division.
  • Participates in activities and duties related to emergency management during a local state of disaster as directed.
