About The Position

Fort Bend County is seeking a Pre-Trial Monitor to join their Community Supervision & Corrections department. This role involves interacting with defendants both in the office and in the field, conducting vehicle inspections, overseeing alcohol/drug testing, and managing monitoring devices. The Pre-Trial Monitor will also be responsible for documenting defendant compliance and violations, investigating alleged violations of bond conditions, and reporting defendants with active arrest warrants. Additionally, the position requires participation in emergency management activities as directed. Requirements

  • High School Diploma/GED
  • Two years job related experience
  • Strong computer and typing skills (Minimum 40 wpm)
  • Good verbal and written communication skills
  • Good interpersonal skills and ability to deal effectively with the public, other employees, and elected officials
  • Good organizational skills and the ability to complete assigned projects

Responsibilities

  • Interacts with defendants in the office and outside of the office for vehicle inspections, alcohol/drug testing, and inspection of satellite monitoring/SCRAM anklets.
  • Accompanies defendants to the drug testing lab to directly observe urine specimen production, conduct on-site drug and alcohol testing, hair specimen collection, and breath testing.
  • Prepares urine and hair specimens for testing at an outside lab, ensuring chain of custody is preserved.
  • Refers clients to outside vendors for the installation of monitoring devices such as satellite monitoring anklets, SCRAM anklets, ignition interlock devices, and computer monitoring software.
  • Verifies installation of monitoring devices and reviews/analyzes data from monitoring reports to determine if further investigation is needed for violations.
  • Documents all relevant events related to defendant supervision in the case management system, including compliance with and violations of bond conditions.
  • Conducts investigations into alleged violations of bond conditions, which may include contacting victims, collecting sworn statements, and gathering supporting information.
  • Requests and obtains offense reports from arresting agencies when a defendant has been arrested.
  • Refers defendants to court-ordered treatment programs and verifies compliance through contacts with providers or progress reports.
  • Reports defendants with active arrest warrants to the FBC Sheriff’s Office Warrants Division.
  • Participates in activities and duties related to emergency management during a local state of disaster as directed.
