About The Position

Responsibilities include but are not limited to performing the initial test for functionality on point of sale (credit card) terminals and printers. Using written procedure documents, the Pre-Test Associate will perform tests to determine whether or not a problem is found with the unit. The Pre-Test Associate will input testing and repair details in an online management system. Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • 1 year of electronics experience which can include mobile devices
  • Ability to input data into an online management system on the computer.
  • Ability to distinguish between different types of POS equipment and follow written testing procedures for that specific model
  • Ability to meet production goals determined by Supervisor, measured in units per hour.
  • Basic understanding of operation and application of electronic equipment.
  • Exemplary attendance/punctuality
  • Ability to work overtime, as required
  • Ability to understand and follow written and verbal instructions
  • Ability to communicate effectively with a diversity of individuals in multiple functional areas
  • Moderate Carrying: Physically transporting items weighing up to 25 pounds from one location to another
  • Fingering: Picking, pinching, typing, or otherwise working primarily with fingers rather than with the whole hand or arm
  • Grasping: Applying pressure to an object with fingers (including thumb) and palm
  • Light Lifting: Raising objects up to 15 pounds from a lower to a higher position or moving objects horizontally from one position to another
  • Pulling Hand over Hand: Using upper extremities to exert force in order to draw, drag, haul, or tug objects in a sustained motion (up to 1 hour per day, spread over time throughout the day)
  • Pushing: Using upper extremities to press against something with steady force in order to thrust forward, downward, or upward (up to 1 hour per day, spread over time throughout the day)
  • Repetitive motion: Substantial movements of the wrists, hands, and/or fingers for sustained periods of time
  • Sitting: Particularly for sustained periods of time
  • Walking: Moving about on foot, particularly for short distances
  • Visual Requirement: Able to see and read PC screens; detect color coding, read fine print, and/or normal type size print
  • Ability to organize thoughts and ideas into understandable terminology
  • Ability to organize and prioritize own work schedule on short-term basis (longer than one month)
  • Ability to understand, remember, and apply oral and/or written instructions or other information
  • Ability to understand, remember, and communicate routine, factual information
  • Ability to understand and follow basic instructions and guidelines

Responsibilities

  • Receives a batch of units from the receiving department.
  • Locates the test procedure documentation corresponding to that specific unit type.
  • Follows the procedure document to perform a sequence of tasks to verify whether or not the unit meets required operational criteria.
  • If the device fails, reports the failure in the online management system and sets the unit aside in the pretest failure area.
  • If the device passes, records the result in the online management system and passes the unit along to the next functional area for processing.
  • Operates required equipment in a safe manner following established safety rules.
  • Maintains a neat and clean work area.
  • Follows established tool and instrument control procedures.
  • Reports any unsafe acts or conditions to immediate supervisor.
  • Performs other duties as required to meet business needs.
