Apply today! JOB SUMMARY: The Pre-Surgery Supervisor directly supervises the medical assistant and administrative staff in the Pre-Surgery Department. The incumbent performs as a clinician in addition to coordinating the care of patients and an efficient patient flow.

Requirements

  • Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) preferred but will consider Certified Medical Assistant candidates. This includes a certification, registration, or licensure either in the state of Pennsylvania or at a national level.
  • Five years of experience in a healthcare setting required
  • Current BLS Certification required.
  • Proficient in computer use, including but not limited to Microsoft Outlook and Electronic Medical Records.
  • Independent judgment is necessary to work in accordance with department practices and general directives received by Management.
  • Excellent communication skills, frequently involving collaboration with physicians, management/leadership and other organizational personnel.
  • Ability to work independently and utilize time management, prioritization, and multi-tasking skills.
  • Flexibility in scheduling to accommodate departmental needs is required.

Responsibilities

  • Performs duties in accordance with established clinic policies and procedures, OSS objectives, performance improvement activities, safety, confidentiality, environmental and infection control standards.
  • Demonstrates initiative, the ability to work with others and professional judgment.
  • Assumes responsibility for own personal continuing education and developmental needs.
  • Oversees daily staffing needs in the Pre-surgery clinic.
  • Oversee daily patient flow to ensure patient satisfaction.
  • Facilitates regular meetings of the Pre-surgery team and attends APP monthly meetings in collaboration with the senior APP.
  • Communicates significant clinical issues, consistent with the organizational policies, procedures, guidelines and mission, to the Senior APP.
  • Facilitates new employee departmental orientation/training including teaching for departmental specific tasks, policies and procedures.
  • Assists with onboarding new APP’s into the pre-surgery clinic
  • Assists with development and implementation of policies and procedures, consistent with those of the organization, to ensure efficient and safe clinical operations.
  • Collaborates closely with the APP and clinic teams to ensure streamlined processes and improvements with patient care.
  • Protect patient confidentiality by promoting professional staff communications.
  • Assist with and support staff members in pursuit of professional goals and act as a professional role model.
  • Available to work on the floor with Advanced Practice Providers when necessary.
  • Communicate and collaborate with other OSS Department Leaders to facilitate patient care.
  • Supports the Clinic staff with making decisions and taking action on essential planning and operating the Pre-Surgery Department.
  • Serves as the ultimate professional role model for clinical staff members. Acts as the resource tool for clinical staff members.
  • Assists the Senior APP with department specific leadership and accountability issues.
  • Has regular meetings with the clinical team and fosters communication with staff.
  • Other duties as assigned.
