This role is responsible for the accurate utilization of a computerized central scheduling system to provide customers with timely, courteous, and proficient scheduling. The scheduler will appropriately use tools and resources to prevent scheduling conflicts and ensure proper test sequencing when multiple testing is ordered. They will accurately enter all required patient registration data, including demographic, insurance, and contact information, ensuring patients are registered within the timeframe set by policies. A key responsibility includes completing the Medicare Questionnaire for all Medicare patients and maintaining knowledge of Medicare, Medicaid, and third-party payer requirements, guidelines, policies, and insurance plans that require pre-authorization or referral. The scheduler will also provide patients with accurate preparation and arrival instructions prior to their exam and accurately obtain and transcribe orders for scheduled outpatient exams. The position requires participation in department staff meetings, continuous learning to maintain skill competency, and seeking education opportunities to increase knowledge in department procedures. Active participation in group projects for problem-solving and knowledge of Advocate Aurora Health departments to answer or refer questions appropriately are also expected. Maintaining patient record confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA and compliance policies is crucial. Additionally, the role involves informing customers of insurance requirements, financial obligations, and handling financial transactions.
