About The Position

Segra is seeking a qualified and experienced Pre-Sales Network Engineer to join our team in a full-time capacity. This hybrid role requires a minimum of three days in the office per week, with the flexibility to work remotely for two days. The Pre-Sales Network Planning Engineer is responsible for completing pre-sale design requests, including DWDM transport spans and systems, dark fiber designs, and large high-level RFP requests. This role involves developing designs to support requests and creating high-level CAPEX estimates for financial incorporation into quotes. The engineer ensures that all designs adhere to SEGRA’s network policies and procedures, guaranteeing the delivery of a stable, scalable, and resilient network. This position operates with minimal supervision, independently and collaboratively driving solutions that uphold sound network principles and objectively resolve complex problems. The ideal candidate is a self-motivated, team-oriented individual capable of effective collaboration across Sales, Sales Engineering, Operations, Network Planning, and other cross-functional teams. Strong verbal and written communication skills are essential. The engineer must possess a deep understanding of SEGRA’s core transport systems and demonstrate advanced knowledge of network equipment from vendors such as Ciena, Cisco, ADVA, and Nokia. The role requires the ability to understand and create network maps and logical drawings, including the development of KMZ files for network infrastructure fiber routes and high-level Vizio diagrams of logical network designs.

Requirements

  • A minimum of 3 years of related industry experience.
  • Strong understanding of SEGRA’s core transport systems.
  • Advanced knowledge of network equipment form vendors such as Ciena, Cisco, ADVA, Nokia, etc.
  • Ability to understand and create network maps and logical drawings.
  • Detailed oriented individual with strong organizational and communication skills.
  • Ability and willingness to learn and effectively utilize additional software tools as required to support evolving business and technical needs.

Nice To Haves

  • Technical College Degree or equivalent preferred.
  • Network Design, Network Planning or Transport engineering work experience.
  • Knowledge of MPLS, TCP/IP, QoS, CoS, Cisco CCIE and MEF Certifications, VoIP, MCGP/SIP, BGP/ISIS/OSPF/(E)IGRP Routing Protocols.
  • Cisco, Nokia, or Ciena equipment experience.
  • Practical knowledge of Segra networks.
  • Proficient with ARC GIS Pro, internal systems, and Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, Visio, and Power Point.
  • Knowledge of L2/L3 structure, equipment, products and services.

Responsibilities
