Verifying Insurance

Responsibilities

Verifies patient demographics including name, address, date-of-birth, primary physician and current insurance from insurance websites.
Checking referral based insurance plans to make sure we secured a referral prior to the patient’s appointment.
Calls patients to cancel appointments in which a referral is not secured.
Utilizes websites and makes phone calls to insurance companies to obtain eligibility and benefit information for specific appointment types.
Determines when deductible, copay and coinsurance apply and how much patients should bring in at time of service. Making sure provider participates with the patient’s insurance plan.
Communicates any issues and out of pocket expenses to the patient prior to appointment.
Assists in compilation of data for regular and special reports as requested by Team Leader or other personnel.
