About The Position

St. Luke’s Cataract & Laser Institute is seeking a dependable, detail-oriented Pre/Post Operative Support Technician to support our Ambulatory Surgery Center team. This position plays an important role in both patient care and surgical readiness. Responsibilities include assisting with pre-operative and post-operative patient flow, supporting surgery chart preparation, verifying cataract lens selections, and assisting with lens inventory processes. The ideal candidate is organized, calm under pressure, comfortable working in a fast-paced surgical environment, and understands the importance of accuracy, patient safety, and teamwork. This is a key support role within the ASC that requires a balance of patient-facing responsibilities, documentation support, surgical preparation, and inventory accuracy. The Pre/Post Operative Support Technician helps ensure patients move safely through the surgical experience while also supporting the behind-the-scenes processes that allow surgery days to run smoothly, efficiently, and accurately.

Requirements

  • Prior healthcare, surgical, ophthalmology, or ASC experience preferred
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to follow structured processes
  • Comfortable working with patients in a clinical setting
  • Ability to safely assist with wheelchair transport
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills
  • Ability to multitask in a busy surgical environment
  • Basic computer skills required
  • Must be dependable, organized, and committed to patient safety

Nice To Haves

  • Ophthalmology or surgery center experience
  • Experience with surgical chart preparation
  • Inventory or supply management experience
  • Familiarity with lens inventory or surgical implant tracking

Responsibilities

  • Assist with pre-operative patient check-in and patient flow on surgery days
  • Support post-operative patient care, including charting and documentation assistance
  • Safely transport patients by wheelchair from the ASC to their driver after surgery
  • Prepare surgery charts for upcoming surgical cases
  • Review and QA surgical chart information to ensure accuracy and completeness
  • Verify cataract surgery lens selections prior to surgery
  • Pull lenses daily after lens selections have been verified
  • Accurately enter lens information into the appropriate system
  • Assist with lens inventory organization and management
  • Help receive, organize, and stock supplies as needed
  • Communicate effectively with the ASC, biometry, nursing, and surgical teams
  • Support overall ASC flow, readiness, and patient experience
  • Follow established policies, safety protocols, and infection control standards
  • Escalate concerns or discrepancies promptly to the appropriate leader
