About The Position
OrthoNY is seeking a full-time Pre-Op/PACU Registered Nurse to join our team at our Everett Road Surgery Center. In this role, you will play a critical part in ensuring a seamless patient experience before and after surgical procedures, delivering high-quality care in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
Requirements
- Current unrestricted NYS RN license
- Ability to effectively communicate with providers, patients and peers
- Candidate must demonstrate aptitude for maintaining pace of abbreviated patient encounters, keeping flow to reasonable time frame in post-operative care
- Specialized knowledge, skill and abilities in perioperative nursing
- Capable of decision making when applicable
- Valid driver’s license and vehicle to travel as needed
Nice To Haves
- Minimum of 2 years previous PACU or critical care experience strongly preferred
Responsibilities
- Assess, instruct & prepare patients prior to surgery
- Ensure that operative and informed consents are signed and correct
- Take and record vital statistics of patients to ensure readiness for surgical procedure
- Assess patients’ post-operative condition
- Monitor vital signs and other measurements of progress to ensure patient is meeting discharge criteria
- Document all findings in patient files
- Answer patient questions to ensure patient comfort
- Monitor patients for condition changes, report any changes to physician
- Perform intervention duties during post-operative emergencies
- Gather pertinent medical history and provide concise instruction for pre-operative and post-operative care
- Other responsibilities as needed/assigned
