About The Position

Responsible for the delivery of safe, effective, and quality patient-family centered care in the preoperative and post anesthesia care unit and other areas of perioperative services for all patient populations.

Requirements

  • Graduate from an accredited school of nursing
  • Current registered nurse licensure in the state of Georgia
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification

Nice To Haves

  • Two years perianesthesia services experience
  • Certified Post Anesthesia Nurse (CPAN) or Certified Ambulatory Perianesthesia Nurse (CAPA) certification
  • Computer skills (eg, Microsoft® PowerPoint, Word, Excel)

Responsibilities

  • Support the mission, vision, and values of the organization.
  • Assess patients at intervals as stated in policies and procedures.
  • Develop an individualized perianesthesia patient plan of care.
  • Implement the plan of care including interventions such as managing patients preoperatively and during recovery from anesthesia, protecting patients from injury, communicating patient status, providing acute pain and comfort management, administering medications correctly, performing interventions to maintain patient's wound and tissue perfusion, performing interventions to maintain the status of various body systems and fluid balances, performing interventions to ensure the patient is at or returned to normothermia, performing interventions to protect patients from infection and harm, managing patient's co-morbid conditions, managing patient's fluid intake, assessing knowledge level and providing education, involving patient or designated support person actively in decisions, protecting patient's rights, dignity, and privacy, providing age-specific, culturally competent, ethical care within legal standards, providing consistent and comparable care regardless of setting, performing interventions to ensure correct site, side, and level for procedures, managing patient's specimens.
  • Evaluate the patient's progress toward attaining outcomes.
  • Transfer care as applicable.
  • Delegate tasks according to the state Nurse Practice Act and job descriptions.
  • Document nursing care accurately, completely, and legibly.
  • Collaborate effectively with other disciplines as applicable.
  • Participate in quality review and performance improvement projects.
  • Participate in the performance appraisal process.
  • Use problem-solving and conflict resolution skills to foster effective work relationships with team members.
  • Maintain required competencies.

  • Follow safety procedures and manufacturer's instructions.
  • Operate equipment used in the operating room areas safely and according to the manufacturer's instructions for use.
  • Assist with identifying pertinent evidence to establish benchmarks as directed.
  • Comply with organizational policies, regulatory and accreditation standards, and professional guidelines.
