About The Position
Responsible for the delivery of safe, effective, and quality patient-family centered care in the preoperative and post anesthesia care unit and other areas of perioperative services for all patient populations.
Requirements
- Graduate from an accredited school of nursing
- Current registered nurse licensure in the state of Georgia
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification
Nice To Haves
- Two years perianesthesia services experience
- Certified Post Anesthesia Nurse (CPAN) or Certified Ambulatory Perianesthesia Nurse (CAPA) certification
- Computer skills (eg, Microsoft® PowerPoint, Word, Excel)
Responsibilities
- Support the mission, vision, and values of the organization.
- Assess patients at intervals as stated in policies and procedures.
- Develop an individualized perianesthesia patient plan of care.
- Implement the plan of care including managing patients preoperatively and during recovery from anesthesia, protecting patients from injury, communicating patient status, providing acute pain and comfort management, administering medications correctly, maintaining wound and tissue integrity, maintaining system functions, ensuring normothermia, protecting patients from infection and harm, managing co-morbid conditions, managing fluid intake, educating patients or support persons, involving patients or support persons in care decisions, protecting patient's rights, dignity, and privacy, providing age-specific, culturally competent, ethical care, performing correct site/side/level procedures, and managing patient specimens.
- Evaluate the patient's progress toward attaining outcomes.
- Transfer care as applicable.
- Delegate tasks according to the state Nurse Practice Act and job descriptions.
- Document nursing care accurately, completely, and legibly.
- Collaborate effectively with other disciplines as applicable.
- Participate in quality review and performance improvement projects.
- Participate in the performance appraisal process.
- Use problem-solving and conflict resolution skills to foster effective work relationships with team members.
- Maintain required competencies.
- Pursue professional growth and participates in a professional organization.
- Act as a patient advocate and maintain privacy and confidentiality of the company, individuals, and health information.
- Follow established, evidenced-based protocols.
- Adhere to standard precautions including the use of appropriate hand hygiene, appropriate personal protective equipment and safe practices to ensure personal safety and a safe environment.
- Follow safety procedures and manufacturer's instructions.
- Operate equipment used in the operating room areas safely and according to the manufacturer's instructions for use.
- Assist with identifying pertinent evidence to establish benchmarks as directed.
- Comply with organizational policies, regulatory and accreditation standards, and professional guidelines.
