AES Indiana is developing several generation projects to meet increasing demand, focusing initially on the technical development of at least one CCGT power plant of approximately 650 MW, with a second CCGT as a strong possibility. Other generation projects will also be developed to bridge demand growth until the first CCGT comes online in 2033/2034. The Pre-NTP Electrical Engineer will manage the development of the electrical design for these projects, working within the Generation Development Team on Technical Specifications and EPC Contracts, utilizing the expertise of Owner’s Engineers and consultants. This role spans from initial Feasibility Studies and technology selection to EPC Contract development and signature, with potential to evolve into an electrical engineering management or Project Engineering Manager role for project execution.

Requirements

  • Electrical engineering degree. BS or equivalent degree in engineering or other relevant technical area required.
  • Proven experience in technical design (with operational experience is preferred) including the design of large CCGT and other generation projects.
  • Ideal candidate has construction and commissioning experience for conventional generation (fossil fuel) projects
  • Experience in reading and understanding project schedules and project schedule principles
  • Minimum of 5-10 years’ electrical design and/or construction experience
  • Demonstrate exceptional written and oral communication skills.
  • Proficiency in applicable electrical codes and standards for large power generation projects

Responsibilities

  • Provide Safety Leadership in all aspects of the Project.
  • Be responsible for the development of the electrical design for the projects including: a. the review and selection of major electrical equipment (transformers, switchgear, etc) b. review of High Voltage, Medium Voltage, and Low Voltage Systems
  • Manage the integration with T&D (Interconnection) departments to ensure alignment with the overall project electrical design.
  • Develop, review and collaborate with Owner’s Engineers and other SMEs on the electrical design details in the Technical Specifications
  • Review of the electrical design for operational consistency and standards within AES Indiana.
