AES Indiana is developing several generation projects to meet increasing demand, focusing initially on a 650 MW CCGT power plant and potentially a second one, with other projects to bridge the gap until the first CCGT comes online in 2033/2034. The Pre-NTP Controls Engineer will manage the development of the controls design for these projects, working within the Generation Development Team to develop Technical Specifications and EPC Contracts, utilizing the expertise of Owner's Engineers and consultants. This role spans from Feasibility Studies and technology selection to EPC Contract development and signature, with potential to evolve into controls engineering management or Project Engineering Manager for project execution.

Requirements

  • BS Degree in controls engineer or equivalent degree in engineering / or other relevant technical area required.
  • 5 to 10 years’ experience in plant and industrial controls systems.
  • Proven experience in technical design (with operational experience is preferred) including the design of large CCGT and other generation projects.
  • Minimum of eight (8) years’ electrical design and/or construction experience.
  • Demonstrate exceptional written and oral communication skills.

Nice To Haves

  • Ideal candidate has construction and commissioning experience for conventional generation (fossil fuel) projects.
  • Experience in reading and understanding project schedules and project schedule principles.
  • Experience with Mark VI and Emerson Ovation control systems is strongly preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Provide Safety Leadership in all aspects of the Project.
  • Be responsible for the development of the controls systems design for the projects including: Review/define/approve overall control philosophy for the projects, Review/select/approve of the overall integration design of the plant’s controls systems, Review/define the metering and associated interfaces (gas, electrical interconnection, and other utilities), Review/specify control requirements for subsystems including PLC integration, Select preferred suppliers of DCS and other control systems.
  • Manage the integration with AES Indiana metering and interconnection (AES Indiana T&D) to ensure alignment with the overall project controls design.
  • Develop, review and collaborate with Owner’s Engineers and other SMEs on the electrical design details in the Technical Specifications.
  • Review of the controls design for operational consistency and standards within AES Indiana.
