About The Position

Jackson Lewis, P.C. is seeking a Pre-Litigation Associate – Of Counsel (Remote) to handle various duties in connection with pre-litigation matters. This role involves independently responding to demand letters, requests for records, and agency/administrative charges, assessing claims, providing analysis to clients and carriers, and engaging in settlement-related activities. The position requires direct client and carrier contact and collaboration with the firm's Professional Development team. This is a non-Principal track position available nationwide in any state where Jackson Lewis maintains an office. The required hours for this role are 1850.

Requirements

  • Must be admitted to the CA state bar and comply with all ethical requirements in the resident state, including being barred if required.
  • Must be in good standing.
  • At least 9+ years of relevant California experience and a demonstrated ability to operate in a first chair capacity.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail required to handle large volumes of documents and work associated with each matter.
  • Demonstrated ability to prioritize and balance competing demands and meet deadlines in a fast-paced professional environment.
  • Exceptional communication skills and strong legal research and drafting skills.
  • Ability to foster strong collaboration across Legal Support, Operations and Attorney teams.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office programs (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).

Nice To Haves

  • At least 4 years of experience (to be considered for an Associate role) handling California employment litigation matters including demand letters, requests for records and agency/administrative charges.

Responsibilities

  • Independently handling responding to demand letters, requests for records and agency/administrative charges without the need for more senior attorney level review.
  • Assessment of the claims and providing an analysis to the client and carrier.
  • Direct client and carrier contact in handling those responses.
  • Settlement related activity including attending mediations.
  • Work with the firm’s Professional Development team in the delivery of work product to clients.
  • Comply with all client and firm related administrative tasks.
  • Other tasks as assigned by the firm including by a client relationship manager, an Office Managing Partner, Office Litigation Manager and/or Case Staffer.
