About The Position

Snow Hill Elementary School is seeking passionate, professional, and positive educators to join their faculty. This Pre-Kindergarten Teacher role is responsible for implementing the pre-kindergarten program and creating a learning environment that fosters student growth. Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Education or related field
  • Valid State of Tennessee teaching certificate with appropriate endorsement
  • Equivalent combination of education, training, and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to foster a safe, inclusive and positive learning environment
  • Ability to work collaboratively with other educators and staff
  • Understanding of various instructional strategies
  • Knowledge of formative and summative assessment methods
  • Capability to identify issues and implement appropriate solutions

Responsibilities

  • Maintains appropriate licensure and provides required documentation.
  • Adheres to Tennessee State Board of Education rules, Voluntary Pre-K Scope of Services, and the Hamilton County Department of Education Pre-K Handbook.
  • Follows the assigned curriculum and pacing guide.
  • Ensures students are signed in and out daily.
  • Provides learning experiences in various subjects suitable for pre-kindergarten students.
  • Develops and uses appropriate instructional materials.
  • Supervises students during mealtimes, snack times, and throughout the school day.
  • Develops students' awareness of their self-worth and role in the community.
  • Encourages creative expression through art, music, and dramatic play.
  • Provides individual and small group instruction to meet diverse student needs.
  • Works with support personnel and agencies to promote student goals.
  • Enriches the educational program through field trips and classroom visits.
  • Plans and coordinates the work of aides, assistants, parents, and volunteers.
  • Performs miscellaneous tasks, checks students for illness, and administers basic first aid.
  • Administers pre-k assessments and monitors student progress, providing feedback to students, parents, and administration.
  • Maintains accurate and complete student records.
  • Develops parent activities to promote involvement in educational activities.
  • Communicates regularly with parents through meetings, newsletters, and home visits.
  • Establishes and reinforces acceptable student behavior, attitudes, and social skills.
  • Cooperates with staff to assess and help students with problems.
  • Creates an effective learning environment with appropriate displays and exhibits.
  • Participates in faculty meetings, professional development, and conferences.
  • Participates in curriculum and other developmental programs.
  • Implements district, state, and federal policies and regulations.
  • Maintains classroom order and administers discipline as necessary.
  • Manages student conduct in accordance with guidelines.
  • Consults with professionals regarding learning disabilities and coordinates intervention decisions with parents.
  • Maintains mandated reporting responsibilities for suspected abuse or neglect.
  • Documents student performance for instructional continuity.
  • Communicates with appropriate personnel regarding potential problems.
  • Shares responsibility for monitoring various school areas and activities.
  • Maintains records of academic performance, attendance, interventions, and social acclimation.
  • Conducts parent-teacher conferences.
  • Plans and coordinates events, field trips, and community activities.
  • Complies with accounting and financial policies.
  • Provides general physical assistance to students with disabilities, including toileting and feeding.
  • Collaborates with teams to plan instruction, assess progress, and support IEP and 504 plan implementation.
  • Responds to emergencies and ensures student safety.
  • Adheres to the Teacher Code of Ethics.
  • Acts in a professional, respectful, and welcoming manner.
  • Creates a customer-focused climate and provides quality services.
  • Works collaboratively with all stakeholders.
  • Follows procedures to ensure assigned areas are safe.
