About The Position

As a Pre-K Teacher at Stratford School, you will create a safe, nurturing, and engaging learning environment for children ages 3 to 5. You will foster curiosity, build confidence, and support each child’s development through thoughtful, structured instruction. Teachers design and implement lesson plans using a provided curriculum as a guide, delivering a well-organized and enriching classroom experience. You will also create a nurturing, responsive environment that promotes positive development of social and emotional competencies, support children with meals, snacks, and rest periods, collaborate with other faculty and staff members, communicate daily with parents or guardians, and maintain a well-organized and engaging classroom environment.

Requirements

  • 12 semesters or 18 quarter early childhood education units shall include courses that cover the general areas of early child development, child, family, and community, and program/curriculum or a bachelor’s degree in child development
  • Patience, compassion, and a genuine love for working with young children
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • 12 completed ECE semester units (or 18 quarter units), including coursework in: Child Growth and Development, Child, Family, and Community, Program/Curriculum OR a Bachelor’s Degree in Child Development
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills
  • Professional, dependable, and flexible
  • Passion for working with young children
  • Frequently walk, stand, sit, squat, stoop, reach, kneel, rise from the floor, twist, listen, read, write, and speak the English language
  • Often carry, lift, use repetitive or fine hand movements, and occasionally push, pull, or bend
  • Regularly hear and use clear vision with or without correction

Nice To Haves

  • Prior teaching experience with preschool students is preferred
  • Prior experience in a preschool setting
