Pre-K Teacher
About The Position
Boys and Girls Club of Truckee Meadows is hiring a Pre-K Teacher for children ages 3–5 at its Fernley Early Learning Center. This salaried teaching position follows the school district and Boys & Girls Club calendar, including a summer break. Instruction is expected to run from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m., with preparation time before and after instruction, likely making the workday approximately 7:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. The teacher plans and leads academic and social-emotional activities in a class with a 10:1 ratio, engages with student families, prepares lesson materials, manages student portfolios, and helps maintain a safe, positive experience for children and staff. The position is supported by an engaged administrative team. The center emphasizes Generosity, Respect, Encouragement, Accountability, and Trustworthiness, and aims to provide children with a safe, inclusive, and connected place to learn and grow.
Requirements
- Meet at least one of the following education or program qualifications: a bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education (ECE) or Early Childhood Special Education (ECSE); a bachelor's degree in any field and a state-approved ARL in Early Childhood; a bachelor's degree in any field and at least 30 ECE college credits; or current enrollment in the TEACH program for an early childhood-related degree.
- Provide three professional references.
- Complete a drug screen covering drugs illegal in Nevada, a background check, and a fingerprint check.
- Be dedicated to early childhood education and recognize its importance to a strong community.
- Bring a positive attitude to interactions with staff.
- Support inclusion and celebrate people's uniqueness regardless of background or beliefs.
- Respect the team and communicate when having difficulty meeting responsibilities.
