About The Position

The Pre-K Early Childhood Assistant will have direct involvement with children for the majority of the day, collaborating with the teacher on instructional plans, assisting with classroom lessons and activities, and facilitating group and center activities. This role also involves supporting the class behavior plan and supervising children during teacher planning periods, lunch, and recess. Additionally, the assistant will help children with restroom needs and perform other assigned duties.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Satisfy Every Student Succeeds Act requirements by: a. Completed at least 2 years of study (48 hrs.) at an institution of higher ed, or b. Hold an associate’s degree or higher, or c. Obtained a National Career Readiness Certificate through successful completion of the ACT, WorkKeys Assessment, or passed the Paraprofessional Assessment Test - Passing Score is 455, or d. Passed the Oklahoma General Education (OGET) Test.
  • Satisfy all district requirements with regard to physical health and citizenship.
  • Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with teacher regarding instructional plans.
  • Assist with classroom lessons and activities.
  • Facilitate small/large group activities.
  • Facilitate center activities.
  • Support the class behavior plan.
  • Supervision of children during teacher plan period, lunch, and recess.
  • Assist children with restroom needs with necessary.
  • Perform all other duties as assigned.
