Durham Community Health Centre (DCHC) is a registered, charitable organization providing integrated, accessible, and equitable community-based primary care, wellness services, and health education to Durham community members facing multiple barriers to health and well-being. DCHC focuses on priority populations such as Indigenous, Black, the 2SLGBTQI Community, Newcomers to Canada, Seniors, and Unattached patients, ensuring both sick and preventive care. The team is an interprofessional group including physicians, nurse practitioners, nurses, counselors, dietitians, outreach workers, medical secretaries, and administrative staff, all client-centered. DCHC is currently embarking on an energizing path with a focus on making its biggest impact yet on local health care by diversifying, expanding, and leveraging its Strategic Plan, Theory of Change, Brand, Client Stories and Resources. Strategic goals for 2023-2026 include driving program and service integration, evolving program offerings to improve health equity, establishing DCHC as a system advocate, enhancing brand awareness, and becoming an employer of choice. As an Early Childhood Assistant, the role will focus on engaging with children from underrepresented communities, providing enriching and developmentally appropriate activities that encourage social, cognitive, and emotional growth. This position plays a critical part in helping children develop key skills in early childhood that are essential for their future academic success and well-being. By offering inclusive programs, the Early Childhood Assistant will contribute to an environment where every child feels seen, heard, and valued, regardless of their background or family circumstances.
