About The Position

Provide general support for the transportation of Pre-K students under the guidance of the Bus Driver and Transportation Manager, including specialized support for Pre-K students in special education. Implement specialized programming and assist students with individualized needs to and from school.

Requirements

  • Demonstrate reliability in attendance and task completion.
  • Present a professional appearance and maintain a positive work environment.
  • Promote positive working relationships with peers, students, and the public.
  • Follow schedules and routines and implement necessary adaptations based on student needs, especially for those with Individualized Education Plans (IEPs).
  • Meet the educational, physical, and emotional needs of assigned students, implement IEP requirements, and assist as needed.
  • Must be Mandt trained (or willing to be trained) as required by the District.
  • Implement appropriate measures to protect district data, maintain secure passwords, and follow district technology policies.
  • Able to supervise students inside/outside, sometimes in inclement weather, and provide physical assistance as necessary.
  • Proficient with standard office and specialized equipment needed for individual student accommodations.
  • Basic technology skills as directed by the District for effective communication and recordkeeping.

Responsibilities

  • Operate school buses according to district, state, and federal regulations, and CDE rules.
  • Perform pre- and post-route safety inspections on vehicles and ensure vehicle cleanliness.
  • Maintain student conduct on the bus, promoting safety for all students.
  • Assist students with boarding and exiting the bus.
  • Maintain strict confidentiality with all special education student information.
  • Follow IEP-driven instructional programs as directed by supervising teachers.
  • Safely maneuver and secure wheelchairs, assisting students with safe transfer to and from wheelchairs as needed.
  • Complete required paperwork and electronic documentation promptly.
  • Coordinate with the Manager of Transportation and Transportation Secretary to maintain accurate records.
  • Report all accidents/incidents to transportation management immediately.
  • Attend district-required training programs, meetings, and in-services.
  • Uphold district policies, including school vehicle passenger rules.
  • Administer first aid as necessary and ensure safe transfer procedures for students in wheelchairs.
  • Maintain confidentiality for special education students and follow IEP-specific instructional programs as directed.
  • May be required to transport students in district vehicles.
