About The Position

The Pre-Journeyman - Plumbing Service technician performs a wide range of plumbing services for residential customers and promotes the sale of other services offered by the company. The role installs and modifies plumbing equipment, performs plumbing repairs and replacements, carries out limited steam-boiler service under supervision, and completes service-related clerical work.

Requirements

Advanced knowledge of tools and materials used in plumbing service.
Advanced ability to read, interpret, and apply information from blueprints, specifications, and schematics.
Advanced ability to use sewer-cleaning machines.
Advanced customer-relations skills.
Ability to communicate clearly and effectively, both orally and in writing.
Advanced sales skills and ability to recommend and promote all company services.
Ability to work weekends and overtime.
Meet company driving standards, including possession of a valid driver's license.
Have held a valid Maryland Plumbing Apprentice License for 4 years, or for 2 years with a valid Journey Natural Gas Fitter License.
Complete 7,500 hours of training under the control and direction of a licensed Master Plumber, or 3,750 hours of applicable training with a valid Journey Natural Gas Fitter License.

Responsibilities

Install and modify existing plumbing equipment according to installation instructions, supervisor instructions, and applicable county or city codes.
Perform minimal service on steam boilers with supervision.
Repair or replace faucets, toilets, domestic water lines, and drain lines.
Modify and fabricate pipe fittings as needed for installations.
Identify electrical, plumbing, and safety problems related to installations and take necessary corrective action.
Perform clerical duties necessary to complete service requests.
Promote the sale of other services offered by the company to customers.
