About The Position

Wiginton Fire Systems is seeking a qualified Pre-Engineered & Extinguisher Technician for our Fort Myers, Florida office. This position plays a critical role in supporting our growing Service & Inspections Division through the installation, inspection, maintenance, and repair of pre-engineered fire suppression systems and portable fire extinguishers. The Pre-Engineered & Extinguisher Technician is responsible for performing inspections, testing, maintenance, repairs, and installations on a variety of pre-engineered fire suppression systems and portable fire extinguishers in accordance with NFPA standards, manufacturer requirements, and company procedures. This position requires strong technical knowledge, attention to detail, and the ability to provide excellent customer service while working independently in the field.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Valid driver’s license with acceptable driving record
  • Florida Pre-Engineered Suppression System Permit
  • Florida Fire Extinguisher Permit
  • Minimum 4 years of related industry experience
  • Working knowledge of NFPA 10, 17, 17A, and 96 standards
  • Strong understanding of suppression system components, tools, equipment, and installation/service procedures
  • Ability to work independently and manage time effectively
  • Strong communication and customer service skills

Nice To Haves

  • Experience working in commercial and industrial environments
  • Experience with Ansul, Pyro-Chem, Kidde, or similar suppression systems
  • OSHA safety training certifications
  • Experience using digital inspection and reporting software

Responsibilities

  • Perform inspections, testing, maintenance, repairs, and installations on pre-engineered fire suppression systems including: Kitchen hood suppression systems, Paint booth suppression systems, Industrial and heavy equipment suppression systems
  • Inspect, service, recharge, and maintain portable fire extinguishers in accordance with NFPA 10 standards, including: Annual inspections, Six-year maintenance, Hydrostatic testing
  • Review building layouts and site conditions to determine proper extinguisher placement and code compliance
  • Complete inspection reports, deficiency reports, and service documentation accurately and professionally
  • Assist with scheduling and coordination of inspections and service calls as needed
  • Maintain company vehicle, tools, permits, and equipment in a clean and professional manner
  • Communicate effectively with customers, branch personnel, and management regarding project status, deficiencies, and recommendations
  • Maintain all required certifications, permits, and licenses
  • Follow all company safety policies and procedures
  • Perform other duties as assigned
