Pre-Engagement Lead

About The Position

This is a client-facing engagement role that requires a balance of solution architecture knowledge, pre-sales leadership, and commercial acumen. The Engagement Lead will work closely with clients, delivery teams, and sales leadership to design solutions, manage pursuits, and guide opportunities from discovery through proposal and handover to delivery. This role requires regular client interaction and is suited for professionals who can operate at an architect-level technical depth while leading engagement and sales processes.

Requirements

  • 10+ years of total professional experience with at least 3 - 4+ years of pre-sales or solution engineering experience
  • Experience operating at Solution Architect / Pre-Engagement Engineer level
  • Delivered at least two production implementations in enterprise environments
  • Strong background in B2B and B2C commerce implementations
  • Experience working in consulting, digital commerce, or enterprise technology environments
  • Comfortable operating in client-facing and sales-driven roles
  • Strong experience with modern commerce platforms (e.g., Shopify, commercetools) across B2B and B2C, including enterprise implementations
  • Proven integration experience with ERP systems (mandatory) and at least one cloud platform (Microsoft Azure, Google Cloud Platform, or Amazon Web Services)
  • Experience with event-driven or message-based architectures (e.g., Apache Kafka, Confluent)
  • Familiarity with promotions and pricing workflows in commerce environments

Nice To Haves

  • CRM integration experience, preferably Salesforce Sales Cloud
  • Exposure to Salesforce Order Management System and Salesforce Service Cloud
  • Familiarity with marketplace platforms, PIM, OMS, integration automation, and promotion engines
  • Hands-on experience with AI coding tools (e.g., GitHub Copilot, Claude)
  • Understanding of agentic systems, composable commerce, and API-first architectures

Responsibilities

  • Lead or significantly contribute to a number of responses identified for major client opportunities annually
  • Facilitate discovery workshops to understand business goals, technical requirements, and operational constraints
  • Translate business requirements into scalable technical solution approaches
  • Develop clear solution narratives and architecture recommendations aligned with delivery capabilities
  • Create proof-of-concept demos or prototypes to validate proposed solutions
  • Design high-level solution architectures for commerce and integration ecosystems
  • Define system integration strategies across enterprise platforms
  • Provide technical guidance during pursuit and proposal phases
  • Evaluate feasibility, risks, and dependencies in proposed solutions
  • Ensure alignment between business requirements and technical implementation strategy
  • Build and maintain relationships with client stakeholders, including executives and technical leaders
  • Collaborate with Business Development teams to identify and qualify new opportunities
  • Participate actively in end-to-end sales cycles from qualification through proposal submission
  • Represent the organization as a trusted advisor in client engagements
  • Contribute to pipeline growth and pursuit success
  • Lead the development and execution of opportunity pursuit strategies
  • Support pricing strategy discussions and commercial negotiations
  • Contribute to proposal quality, responsiveness, and win rates
  • Ensure solution designs align with delivery feasibility and margin targets
  • Coordinate internal teams across technical, delivery, and commercial functions
