About The Position
New York Bus Sales, the largest authorized Blue Bird School Bus dealership in New York State, has an immediate opening for a Pre-Delivery Inspection (PDI) Technician in their Syracuse, NY location. This is a full-service dealership offering sales, service, and parts, committed to providing safe, dependable buses and professional services. The primary function of the PDI Technician is to perform pre-delivery inspections on all types of buses and modify non-compliant buses to meet customer and DOT specifications. The technician works with considerable independence within established policies and procedures.
Requirements
- Knowledge of DOT requirements for commercial and school vehicles.
- Read and understand DOT and Blue Bird specification sheets.
Nice To Haves
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
Responsibilities
- Perform pre-delivery inspections on all types of buses.
- Modify non-compliant buses to meet customer and DOT specifications.
- Understand DOT requirements with relation to School and Commercial buses.
- Read and understand PDI work orders.
- Modify each bus, if necessary, to meet DOT and customer specifications with regards to seat placement, air systems, chassis and body.
- Maintain a professional relationship with DOT inspector and work with them on inspection day.
- Follow all prescribed safety methods and perform work safely.
