The Pre-Cut Operators generally alternate between two assignments when assigned to work the Pre-Cut Station. One assignment is to operate the surface winder and the other assignment is to handle the packaging of the finished product. When assigned to operate the winder, the primary responsibility is continuous monitoring of product for any visual defect while rolling the product up properly on a core according to instructions and procedure. The employee must notify the Production Manager or QC immediately of changes in the condition or consistency of the product or failure to meet specifications. The alternate assignment when stationed on the backline is the packaging of the finished product. The primary responsibility is to properly prepare packaging materials, periodic checks of the finished product, and packaging of product including palletizing, required documentation, and delivery to the staging area for warehousing, all in accordance to instruction and procedure. Employee must notify Production Manager or QC immediately of changes in condition or consistency of product or failure to meet specifications. During production generating a high number of rolls per hour, the packager may need help in moving finished pallets and banding some of the finished product. The Production Supervisor will determine such need and assign the amount of help required. Pre-cut operators will also frequently be assigned as helpers on other operations.
