About The Position

The Office of the Vice Provost for Research (OVPR) provides leadership and oversight for Tufts University’s research enterprise, supporting programs and offices that advance research, innovation, and impact. Within the OVPR, Pre-Award Research Administration is responsible for pre-award and non-fiscal post-award administration of sponsored awards, including proposal review, approval and submission, award negotiation and acceptance, issuing subawards and amendments, processing prior approvals, and facilitating compliance with federal, state, and agency regulations and internal policies that surround sponsored funding. This position will support the subaward function of the Pre-Award Research Administration unit.

Requirements

  • 0-2 years of experience.
  • Understanding of regulations that govern federal research funding and related areas of regulatory compliance.
  • Proficient with MS Office applications (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and internet.
  • Proficient with electronic grants management systems (i.e., grants.gov, NIH eRA Commons, NSF Fastlane, ProposalCentral, etc.) or ability to learn these and other applicable systems.

Responsibilities

  • Administers standard portfolio of sponsored subawards and amendments.
  • Conducts risk assessments, prepares standard outgoing subaward agreements, reviews incoming standard awards and manages non-fiscal post award compliance activities for a portfolio of subawards.
  • Reviews subaward determinations for outgoing subcontracts and conducts risk assessments for new and continuing subawards.
  • Prepares subcontract agreements and amendments using standard templates and terms.
  • Facilitates negotiation of subawards with standard terms and conditions.
  • Prepares documentation for non-fiscal post-award services concerning subrecipient monitoring, subaward amendments and interpretation of terms and conditions.
  • Acts as resource to principal investigators and department research administrators by responding to inquiries and providing guidance and policy resources.
  • Assists with ad-hoc report requests.
  • Develops and maintains expertise in research administration.
