About The Position

The Practice Manager is the first level of full management authority for a physician practice where team management is the primary duty. This role manages the overall administration of practice operations, including billing and collections, patient scheduling, payroll, medical records, and other general office activities. The Practice Manager will provide leadership on initiatives, projects, or programs, collaborate with appropriate parties to plan, implement, and/or evaluate services, and manage all business and administrative personnel in their medical practice. They will develop and manage operating budgets and have ongoing P&L financial responsibility. This role also involves participating in the development and monitoring of an effective staffing and retention strategy, including hiring and terminating employees, partnering with department leadership to ensure effective performance management of direct reports, establishing and maintaining procedures for orientation of new employees, mentoring and providing learning and development opportunities for direct reports, and collaborating with human resources business partners and department leadership to meet the division's talent management goals. Additionally, the Practice Manager will manage the selection, development, motivation, appraisal, and discipline of personnel, ensure job requirements and goals are clear to employees, delegate responsibilities, establish clear lines of responsibility and accountability, determine and document the qualifications and competence of division personnel, and ensure that orientation, in-service training, and continuing education are provided. The role also includes working with the finance department and clinical departments to develop a third-party payor pricing strategy and monitor its implementation and financial impact, developing effective policies and practices for revenue cycle management, and overseeing all revenue cycle and medical billing in collaboration with Physician and Hospital Billing. Primary responsibility for managing vendors and leases is also included.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field OR equivalent experience
  • 5+ years of work experience in a related job discipline
  • 3+ clinic sites OR 6+ Reports OR Operating Budget $4M+
