The Medical Assistant with the required training, education and demonstration of clinical competency, performs delegated clinical and administrative duties under the supervision of a nurse or licensed physician. This role provides competent technical and clinical services, flexing to daily needs based on CCHMC policy, best practice guidelines, and department needs. The Medical Assistant will assist care providers with procedures and physical exams, prepare patients for examination and treatment, and provide care consistent with family-centered care and medical home models. They will offer flexible, culturally competent, and responsive care to patients and families, treating them as full partners in decision-making processes regarding their child's care. This includes offering information, services, and support in a collaborative and respectful manner. The role also involves acting as a customer advocate, striving to better meet the needs of and support patients and families, utilizing a customer focus to complete assignments and interact courteously. Responsibilities include responding quickly to parent requests and concerns, providing appropriate education, working collaboratively with others, following complex directions to resolve problems and achieve goals, developing positive working relationships, sharing knowledge, and promoting a positive and professional work environment. Data management includes managing records per department policy, assisting with data collection, obtaining consent and release of information forms, maintaining patient files, and adhering to documentation practices. Laboratory work may involve managing specimens per protocols, maintaining knowledge of routine testing processes, retrieving test results, and communicating normal lab results as delegated.
