About The Position

Desert Pines Equine is seeking a Practice Manager who is an exceptional communicator, naturally detail-oriented, and ready to jump in wherever support is needed. This role involves working alongside the Lead Veterinarian to ensure the practice runs smoothly, supporting veterinarians, technicians, receptionists, and clients. The goal is to create a positive, collaborative environment that enables the team to deliver exceptional care to every horse. Desert Pines Equine is Southern Nevada’s only full-service primary care, referral and emergency equine hospital, with a seven-doctor practice offering a wide range of services including sports medicine, surgery, internal medicine, reproduction, preventive care, ambulatory, emergency, and critical care. The practice operates as a collaborative group with a shared passion for horses, aiming to provide professional, high-quality, progressive medicine with compassionate care and excellent customer service.

Requirements

  • Strong leadership, communication, and time management skills.
  • College or university degree preferred, or equivalent experience in leadership, human resources, or operations management (equine or veterinary industry preferred).
  • Working knowledge of payroll administration, compliance practices, and platforms.
  • Extensive knowledge of HR policies, standards, and systems.
  • Natural and energetic leader who thrives in a people-focused environment.
  • Strong background in HR and understanding of people management.
  • Highly organized, a proactive problem-solver, and can multitask effectively in a fast-paced clinic setting.
  • Communicate clearly and professionally across all levels of the organization.
  • Passion for horses and veterinary care.

Nice To Haves

  • Knowledge of Sage Intacct and veterinary practice management system (HVMS) preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Work collaboratively with the practice leadership team to support daily operations and drive practice growth.
  • Promote a cooperative, respectful, and team-oriented workplace culture with a client-centered approach.
  • Support bi-weekly payroll processing, including timecard approval and time off requests.
  • Oversee the full cycle of employee relations including talent acquisition and onboarding, performance management, disciplinary processes, and conflict resolution in partnership with practice leadership.
  • Develop and maintain HR policies, job descriptions, and training programs.
  • Assist in developing and managing operating budgets and monitoring financial health.
  • Solve problems, build strong relationships, and create an organized, collaborative workplace where people and patients can thrive.
