About The Position

University Physicians’ Association is seeking a highly qualified and experienced Practice Manager to oversee the daily operations of University Center for Pain Management. This full-time position offers the opportunity to lead a thriving medical practice within the University of Tennessee Medical Center system. The Practice Manager will be responsible for organizing and maintaining overall business office functions, ensuring operational efficiency, and driving continuous growth.

Requirements

  • Minimum two years of experience in a managerial role.
  • Bachelor’s degree preferred or equivalent experience in healthcare management.
  • Strong knowledge of JCAHO, OSHA, CDC regulatory guidelines.
  • Ability to operate standard medical office equipment.
  • Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
  • Ability to remain professional and positive in high-pressure situations.
  • High level of emotional intelligence and adaptability.

Responsibilities

  • Overseeing scheduling, staffing, and front-office registration.
  • Managing clinical and back-office operations, order tracking, and payroll.
  • Ensuring quality control and insurance verification.
  • Leading performance improvement initiatives and fostering a culture of excellence.
  • Respond to administrative and technical inquiries with a high level of expertise.
  • Resolve complex issues and share knowledge across the health system.
  • Ensure compliance with the latest healthcare regulations, technologies, and trends.
  • Maintain accurate medical records and enforce security standards per UPA/UHS policies.
  • Maintain appropriate staffing levels and monitor scheduling patterns.
  • Supervise and mentor office staff in accordance with department policies.
  • Address employee concerns professionally and confidentially, implementing corrective action plans as necessary.
  • Conduct performance evaluations and provide recommendations for promotions, salary adjustments, and disciplinary actions.
  • Foster a workplace culture that recognizes and rewards employee contributions.
  • Ensure accurate data entry, audits, and reporting of clinic statistics.
  • Oversee payroll processing, credentialing, and compliance with TOSHA, TJC, and regulatory requirements.
  • Ensure smooth clinic operations, optimizing efficiency and patient flow.
  • Work closely with the billing office to manage insurance verification and patient accounts.
  • Address patient concerns and ensure high standards of customer satisfaction.
  • Implement processes to align quality measures and department goals.
