Practice Innovation Partner - Noetica

Thomson ReutersNew York, NY
$158,100 - $293,500Hybrid

About The Position

Thomson Reuters is building a new senior advisory function to serve our most strategic law firm accounts. The Practice Innovation Partner - Noetica is a client-facing role operating at the intersection of AI strategy, technology transformation, and the business of law. This person engages senior firm leadership to help them think through how AI changes the way their organizations operate, compete, and deliver value — and works across the full client lifecycle from pre-sale through post-sale to ensure Thomson Reuters is positioned as an indispensable strategic partner. A core focus of this role is supporting the commercial rollout and strategic positioning of Noetica, Thomson Reuters’ recently acquired AI-native deal intelligence platform. Noetica transforms corporate transactional data into structured, searchable market intelligence — enabling lawyers to benchmark deal terms, assess risk, and understand what’s market in real time. Integrated with CoCounsel, Noetica represents a significant leap forward in how transactional professionals work. This role is critical to helping law firm partners and deal professionals understand, adopt, and derive strategic value from that capability. This is a peer advisory role. Its credibility depends entirely on the depth of experience the person brings from inside the legal profession — specifically transactional practice. The role is not about product demos or adoption metrics — it is about executive relationships and strategic counsel at the highest level of the firm, in rooms where M&A and capital markets partners make decisions about how to compete and how to staff. ABOUT THE ROLE In this opportunity as Practice Innovation Partner - Noetica, you will: Serve as the senior executive advisor for a portfolio of strategic law firm accounts, engaging firm leadership and practitioners on transactional trends, AI strategy, and transformation roadmap. Act as the primary strategic voice for Noetica and CoCounsel’s deal intelligence capabilities with corporate, M&A, and finance practice group leaders — translating what the platform does into why it matters for their specific competitive positioning and client mandates. Help transactional partners and deal teams understand how AI-native market intelligence changes how they draft, negotiate, and price work — and how firms that move early will have a structural advantage in pitching and retaining deal clients. Build trusted, peer-level relationships with firm leadership that give Thomson Reuters a seat at the table when strategic technology decisions are being made, including decisions about whether to invest in deal data capabilities or build alternatives. Partner with the Account Executive across the full sales and relationship lifecycle — from pre-sale and close through post-sale — providing the executive credibility and strategic altitude that enables the broader account team to operate more effectively. Develop and deliver a clear, informed point of view on how AI is reshaping the economics of transactional practice — including deal staffing models, competitive differentiation on term benchmarking, and how market intelligence becomes embedded in standard deal workflow. Surface executive-level insight back to TR product and business leadership on where transactional firms are investing, what is blocking adoption of deal intelligence tools, and what senior partners need that the market is not yet providing — particularly given the competitive landscape from Harvey, Legora, and Spellbook. Represent Thomson Reuters at senior legal industry forums, client roundtables, and executive events where firm-level credibility and transactional expertise are the prerequisites for the room. The Noetica Opportunity You’ll Champion Noetica was built by a former Wachtell Lipton transactional attorney to solve a fundamental problem in deal practice: vast amounts of deal data exist inside documents, but have historically been inaccessible for benchmarking and analysis at scale. Noetica’s AI-native technology extracts, structures, and analyzes transactional terms across millions of deals — giving deal professionals real-time, queryable market intelligence for the first time. As part of CoCounsel, Noetica enables lawyers to: Benchmark key deal terms against real market data during active negotiations Perform natural-language search across structured transactional term databases Identify term trends, deal-level risk signals, and emerging market shifts in real time Draft and negotiate with greater confidence, grounded in what’s actually happening in the market This is not a feature addition — it is a new category of capability for deal professionals. Your role is to make sure the right firm leaders understand why that matters and what it means for how they compete.

Requirements

  • A background as a senior practicing transactional lawyer with senior-level relationships across the industry.
  • You have operated at a level where you shaped firm strategy and built executive buy-in, ideally within corporate, M&A, or finance practices.
  • 5+ years of practice leadership experience, with meaningful time inside a law firm environment that mirrors the clients you will serve — AmLaw 200 or equivalent global firm, with strong transactional practices.
  • Direct familiarity with the mechanics of transactional practice — how M&A and finance lawyers work, how deals get staffed, what drives partner adoption, and where the friction points are in the current deal workflow that tools like Noetica directly address.
  • A grounded point of view on how AI changes legal staffing, pricing, client delivery, and competitive positioning in transactional work — developed through direct experience, not observation.
  • Fluency in the legal technology landscape, including Westlaw, CoCounsel, Practical Law, and how deal intelligence tools like Noetica fit into firm-wide technology strategy and partner-level adoption decisions.
  • Understanding of the competitive landscape and the ability to articulate clearly why market-aware legal AI built on authoritative Thomson Reuters data represents a differentiated proposition.
  • Ability to operate credibly with firm leadership without a commercial agenda — you will not carry a quota, but your relationships will directly influence retention and growth of TR’s most strategic transactional accounts.
  • Executive communication skills: effective one-on-one with a skeptical senior partner and equally effective in a structured committee presentation or practice group strategy session.
  • Collaborative by nature — you will work alongside CSMs, Practical Law Editors, AI Solutions Architects, Forward Deployed Engineers, and Professional Services, each owning a distinct part of the client relationship. You will also work directly with Noetica’s team and TR product leadership as a strategic bridge to the market.
