Responsible for performing and/or supervising the daily business office functions and operations of non-provider staff in conjunction with the manager. This role involves ensuring monthly/quarterly reporting, departmental orientation/precepting oversight for new non-provider staff, and assisting the manager with performance appraisals. The Practice Coordinator ensures all staff complete mandatory in-services, maintains office staffing schedules, and provides procedures for covering absences. They also support the Manager with accurate time sheets/payroll activities, attend and participate in documented monthly meetings, and assist with oversight of departmental office supplies within budget. The role may also involve performing medical secretary duties, assuming a leadership role in the practice manager's absence, assisting with telephones, appointment scheduling, filing, and maintaining the petty cash fund. Additionally, the Practice Coordinator must maintain up-to-date knowledge of and ensure compliance with all internal and external regulator and third-party payer requirements, policies, and procedures. They will review/input data of all office charges, including ICD9-CM diagnosis coding of encounter forms where applicable.
